Once, he used to give me shit...

now, he keeps it all for himself!
Yes folks, thats right today we went down to Serrano Creek Ranch and picked up a cubic yard in our hillbilly wagon.

Also for those of you who care Senate Bill S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010, you know the Bill that seems to restrict home growers from sharing their produce and small farmers from taking their product to market without having it federally tested seems to have a whopping 13% support over on Open Congress. Maybe you care to lend your voice too, given that it should never be allowed to pass in any form.
In other news I am trying to get around to posting about last weeks Festival of Fruit which was spectacular, and has given me lots to write about really soon.

Greetings Elizabeth,

Since I do not have a pick-up truck I have to fill large containers and place it in the trunk of my car. It is all worth it when one sees the plants enjoying it or the vegetable plants.
We have a stable less than a mile from our house and it is time I gather more of the compost.

Wishing you all the very best,
Egmont

You know, I find it rather odd, but not surprising, that our government wants to put such restrictions on small farmers and gardeners. They need to control every little thing.

Funny thing is, I have never heard of hundreds of people getting sick from eating produce grown by a local farmer, have you? Yet several times a year, there is a mass recall of eggs, meat, produce, etc. from huge food conglomerates.

I'm not so sure that this is the govt.s Idea. Big agri business may be feeling challenged but the fact that growing on a small scale is becoming popular again. It's not like they don't have mega bucks to lobby.
