And in the garden...

This is the post after which I finally sat down with my camera and figured out how to turn off the date stamp.
First of all, the mushroom harvest was good...

The texture was oystery if you get my drift.
Then today in the garden was great! first I planted round two of the beans...

See the ugly date stamp? Grrrrr.
Round one began to flower this week!

So it is certainly time.
Then I put in the cantaloupe in...

Followed by the leeks...

It's a late for them, but they were slow as toffee to takes so maybe they will take their time now.
Our oldest pomegranate tree is in bloom...

They really are this pretty!
Speak of pretty, right next door to them are these little guys...

I love California poppies!
Also in the great looking flowers catagory, check out these guys...

I love the garden, never a dull moment.
Check out our Pride of Madeira...

My Birthday freesias keep making me smile...

As you know we have been grafting for a few years, Puppy is way better at it than I. Anyway this year most of our grafts have taken, so here are some shots...

This is an avocado.
And here is a Red Baron Peach...

On the same tree as our Desert Rose peaches...

Then Puppy went to town on the cherimoya adding El Bumpo, Fino de Jete, and Lucida...

Our blueberries are having a blast too...

And our grapes look like we might actually get to taste some this year!

The white sapote is looking promising too...

Our apples are coming along...

And our kei apples are growing their thorns nicely...

Finally I will leave you with these guys, you saw them a few weeks ago before the colored up...

Doll, glad your mom liked the cherimoyas, it's only kei apples that have the thorns.

Oliver, we'd love to have you guys over some time. Call, and we will sort it out.

Cat girl I can not get over the range of different plants you have growing in your garden !
It is all so darn beautiful !
The "pride of Madeira" .. is that the name of the flowering shrub ? it is gorgeous ! and I can't believe how big your apples are !and with thorns, wow ! that is new to me as well .. keeps people from stealing them ? LOL
There is so much going on and you still take that moment in time to appreciate those California Poppies, they are so pretty ! I have a friend in England that grows them there .. so they get around the world don't they ?

Hey! I replied to your comment on my post "Simplicity". By the way, you have an absolutely gorgeous garden. I am so jealous! I cannot wait until I can dig my own garden and grow my own food <3

Joy, yes the Pride of Madeira id that 5 foot tall shrub that hums like a hive once it heats up around here! The kei apples are African and are grown around the borders of villages to keep the wild animals out, they grow into a hedge and the thorns get up to 6 inches long.

Miss Pettey, Soon you'll have a home with a garden, I'm lucky to be here in California where the winters are mild.
