OK, so we didn't get the house, which is OK.

It was the feeding frenzy house so I wasn't unexpected (it's turned into a bidding war with 7 would be buyers). for our part, we learned a lot about bidding and what to ask for in a contract.

I'm glad I wasn't attached to the property, and that getting that close gave me time to evaluate my priorities in a fixer upper. For example, I'm happy to hold on the hot tub if I have a bath and we need new windows and solar panels, and if we do wait on the tub we can install underfloor heating through its water pipes (with bamboo flooring) when we do. All of this implies a house in the lower price range with some wiggle room for a good remodeling job. We will see!
